Fun and free strategy game

Brawl Stars is an action-packed game from Supercell. Compared to Clash of Clans, this game features completely different gameplay. In the past, Clash of Clans has been one of the biggest names in the industry. As such, there have been many sequels, spin-offs, and other titles like Boom Beach depicting a similar concept. However, Brawl Stars proves to be quite different from the rest, including games like Retro Brawl. The most prominent aspect of Brawl Stars is the excellent graphics.

With most titles, Supercell has been able to garner much attention for its stunning art, visuals, and graphics. Brawl Stars isn’t an exception. This multiplayer game features the developer’s trademark cartoony style combined with a vibrant color scheme. This game also focuses on the character graphics of the brawlers, allowing you to play with properly rendered and illustrated visuals. Each character comes with a unique personality and charisma that goes beyond just looks.

Excellent graphics and multiple game modes

As mentioned earlier, the Android game Brawl Stars focuses on character graphics and persona. Therefore, while playing this game on your device, you will notice the stunning visual art. The pre-game interface gives instructions and is easy to access and understand. Even the icons are simple and don’t require you to possess any technical knowledge.

What about the gameplay?

With this multiplayer game, Supercell has tried to solve a lot of issues that persist with similar titles. For instance, Brawl Stars has been specifically designed to fit the screen size of your device and give a good sense of gameplay. It’s worth mentioning that most matches last only a couple of minutes. Since there’s a top-down view, you don’t need to unnecessarily manage the camera.

In Brawl Stars, you can control the character with just one virtual stick. The other one aims the weapon and fires the shot. In addition to this, you can alternatively tap the latter virtual stick for a single shot directed at the nearest enemy. Once the special attack charges, an extra virtual stick activates to aim and launch.

There are quests also that let you choose between brawlers or game modes to plan your strategy. With Multi Brawler Quests, you are given a choice between three brawlers who can give you the advantage. On the other hand, Multi Game Mode Quests allow you to select between two different game modes where you can show off your skills.

With the Brawl Stars download, aiming and movement feel spot-on. Simply put, there’s no steep learning curve to start playing the game. The matches feel fluid, fast, and satisfying despite the short length. While playing the game, you will have a lot of fun with interesting and fast-paced sequences.

What about the game modes?

The premise of the game is simple and straightforward. You need to team up with other players to defeat different teams. Your victory in the game depends on the specific game modes you choose. One of the best aspects of the game is that it offers a range of game modes for players of different skill levels.

Game modes:

  • Gem Grab - requires two teams of three players each to play against each other and collect 10 gems.
  • Showdown - be the last player standing.
  • Bounty - requires players to protect themselves and earn the most stars.
  • Heist - requires you to crack the opponent’s safe in order to win the game.
  • Brawl Ball - players need to score two goals against the opponents.
  • Payload - players compete to push their minecarts to the endpoint.

Can you get new characters?

With the Brawl Stars download, you can easily get new ‘brawlers’. This is the most fun aspect of the game. However, it can also lead to some frustration. While there are free ways to acquire new brawlers, you need to pay some money to access the best ones. Due to this, the gameplay may feel unbalanced, since players with more money can get their hands on better equipment and brawlers.

New brawlers with unique powers and gadgets are added on a regular basis. Cordelius, a Chromatic Brawler, is available at tier 30 of the premium brawl pass. The gardener and caretaker of the Enchanted Forest, he is a skilled assassin who fires two short-range mushroom projectiles that can cause considerable damage. Coming in as the second member of Buzz’s trio is Doug, who is a Mythic Brawler. He is a close-range brawler and can revive his allies using The Hot Dog.

What about in-app purchases?

In terms of design, gameplay, and visual appeal, the game is polished and classy. It comes with fast-paced gameplay and stunning graphics. However, the focus on in-app purchases can be annoying for some players. In order to improve your skills and have more fun, you need to constantly purchase characters, equipment, and other elements in the game.

If you’re not willing to spend money on in-app purchases, this multiplayer game can feel a bit tedious in the long run. However, if you’re looking for a fun time with your friends, it’s still a good choice.

Brawl Stars offers a range of genre riffs, which keeps things lively. Like other games from Supercell, even this one is free to play. When you download Brawl Stars, you can play the game as much as you want. There are no timers, but you’ll have to spend some time on long sessions to earn box-unlocking tokens.

Beyond this, you need to wait for tokens to recharge certain items or make in-app purchases to open boxes and unlock powers, equipment, weapons, and other items. Having said that, the purchases don’t disappoint and make the game more engaging and fun.

Brawl Pass

The Brawl Pass is a progression system in Brawl Stars that allows players to earn rewards and advance through the season. It replaced the old system of earning Brawl Boxes and Big Boxes with Tokens, which can be used to unlock tiers and receive rewards such as gems, power points, coins, and exclusive items like skins and pins. Plus, players who purchase a Brawl Pass will have animated gradient names in the game for a more distinctive look.

What’s new in Brawl Stars?

Brawl Stars’ latest patch update introduces two new Brawlers into the scene — Clancy, a Mythic-level damage dealer Brawler, and Berry, an Epic-level support Brawler. Some Brawlers have been buffed and nerfed to maintain overall gameplay balance. Besides that, some Brawlers get new Hypercharges to boost their potency on the battlefield. These are:

  • Angelo - In My Element
  • Barley - Bottled Up Rage
  • Emz - Overhyped Haze
  • Frank - Seismic Smash
  • Gale - Blizzard
  • Piper - Boppin’
  • Rico - Trick Shot King

Furthermore, a blast to the past in the form of the classic Brawl experience will happen for a limited period. During the event, players will be able to earn Star Tokens to unlock Mega Boxes, which contain a range of fun prizes including coins, power points, gems, XP doublers, Brawlers, skins, and the new Rico Hypercharge Skin with its two Chromas. The event will feature two classic game modes: Drum Roll and Mirror Match.

New Skins are available for various Brawlers as well, ranging from Super Rare to Mythic-tier ones. On the other hand, improvements have been made to the game’s social aspects, including redesigning the “Team Up” button and integrating QR functionality for quick in-person match-ups. Finally, minor tweaks to quests and maps as well as bug fixes have been added to the game too.

Revamped Trophy Season

The latest update in Brawl Stars has completely overhauled the Trophy Season system, making the game more engaging and rewarding. With this change, you'll progress smoothly through 50 tiers, reaching the impressive Max Tier when you hit 1,000 Trophies. Each tier requires 20 Trophies, encouraging consistent advancement throughout the season. Moreover, the Trophy wins and losses dynamics have also been tweaked to ensure a fairer experience, particularly for players with fewer than 1,000 Trophies.

But the fun doesn’t stop at 1,000 Trophies — the game introduces the Trophy Box feature. Once you gather at least 1,500 Trophies, you’ll be rewarded with a base-level Trophy Box. This change aligns perfectly with the monthly game reset and is now synchronized with the Brawl Pass season. This means that everyone will start fresh at 1,000 Trophies, ensuring a balanced start for each new Trophy Season.

Enhanced matchmaking and leaderboard systems

A significant shift in Brawl Stars’ matchmaking mechanics features the introduction of Brawler Trophy thresholds. The updated system aims to create more balanced matches by considering players' Brawler Trophy counts, ensuring that participants encounter opponents with similar skill levels. Once players surpass 1,000 trophies, they are pooled together. Moreover, the Underdog status of a player disappears at 1,000 trophies, encouraging a more competitive environment.

Beyond matchmaking, the game introduces a revamped leaderboard system aimed at providing competitive incentives and long-term goals. Players can now engage with two types of leaderboards for each brawler: the Seasonal Leaderboard, which resets at each season's end, and the All-Time Leaderboard, which continuously tracks the highest trophy counts. Those placed in the top positions on the Seasonal Leaderboard earn a distinctive Prestige Icon displayed on their profiles.

A polished, fun, and engaging adventure

Brawl Stars has been developed by the same team that released Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, and Clash Royale. The game has a combination of multiple gameplay modes, which offers an entertaining and power-packed experience. Game modes to experience are Gem Grab, Brawl Ball, Bounty, Heist, and Showdown. Most of these game modes can be played all by yourself. However, the game is more fun with friends.

In this multiplayer game, the primary objective is to upgrade and collect a range of brawlers and level them up with various skills. Thus, the game gives you a chance to change the flow of any match almost instantly.
